ONE OCCUPANT EXTRICATED FROM A VEHICLE CRASH IN MAILI

On July 2, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:00 p.m. and responded to a motor vehicle collision near the 87-773 Paakea Road in Maili with 6 units staffed with 16 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:09 p.m. and reported a single vehicle collision with an electric pole.

The vehicle was resting on power lines and reportedly on fire, along with the adjacent brush. HFD personnel had the vehicle and brush fire under control by 2:17 p.m. and simultaneously worked to stabilize the vehicle and used battery-powered hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the occupant at 2:19 p.m. Medical care was transferred to the Emergency Services Department at 2:30 p.m. Hawaiian Electric arrived on scene at 2:33 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
