HIKERS RESCUED FROM THE MANANA TRAIL IN PEARL CITY

On July 7, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:57 p.m. and responded to hikers in distress near the Manana Trail in Pearl City with 6 units staffed with approximately 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:10 p.m. and secured a landing zone in preparation for air operations.

It was reported that two male hikers were uninjured but lost. Air 1 arrived at the general area and quickly spotted the hikers near the Manana Trail. Rescue personnel were inserted to the hikers’ location at 5:30 p.m. where the hikers confirmed they were uninjured. Rescue personnel secured the hikers with harnesses and Air 1 transported them, one at a time, to a nearby landing zone by 6:08 p.m. Both hikers refused the services of Emergency Medical Services.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
