RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KALIHI

On July 9, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:34 p.m. and responded to a building fire near the intersection of Kamehameha IV Road and Linapuni Street with 10 units staffed with approximately 38 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:38 p.m. to find smoke and flames fully engulfing the second floor of a two-story single family residence that was reported to be abandoned.

Fire fighters quickly secured a water supply, and commenced an aggressive fire attack with multiple hand lines simultaneously addressing all sides of the structure to protect adjacent properties. A primary and secondary search of the home was completed to confirm no occupants were inside the structure. The fire was brought under control at 9:45 p.m. and fully extinguished at 9:52 p.m. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
