HOTEL FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIKIKI

On July 14, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:03 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 229 Paokalani Avenue in Waikiki with 8 units staffed with approximately 30 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:10 p.m. to find smoke emanating from the 25th floor laundry room.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an offensive fire attack and declared the fire under control at 9:15 p.m. The fire was fully extinguished at 9:36 p.m.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
