RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN PUNALUU

On July 21, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:43 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 53-037 Punaluu Valley Road in Punaluu with 6 units staffed with approximately 22 personnel. While enroute, the first unit saw flames from a distance and requested a second alarm. Once on scene and determining what was needed, the additional resources of the second alarm were canceled and made available.

The first unit arrived on scene at 9:50 a.m. and found a single-story residential building fully involved with fire. Fire fighters started a defensive fire attack, secured a water supply, and had the fire under control at 10:26 a.m. It was confirmed that the two adult occupants of the structure exited safely prior to the HFD’s arrival. The fire was extinguished at 10:52 a.m.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
