INJURED HIKER RESCUED FROM THE MANANA FALLS TRAIL IN PEARL CITY

On July 23, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:53 a.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Manana Falls Trail in Pearl City with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:14 p.m. and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone in preparation for air operations.

It was reported that a male hiker in his teens suffered an injury and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location where they conducted a medical assessment and performed basic life support treatment. The hiker was then escorted to a remote landing zone where he was loaded into the aircraft and safely transported to the nearby landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 12:53 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
