LOST HIKERS RESCUED FROM PALI NOTCHES TRAIL IN NUUANU

On July 28, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:48 p.m. and responded to two lost hikers on the Pali Notches Trail in Nuuanu with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:04 p.m. and secured a landing zone nearby in preparation for a search and rescue operation by air.

It was reported that two hikers had begun hiking at 6:00 a.m. and could no longer continue hiking any further on their own. Rescue personnel were able to locate the hikers and arrived at their side at 3:51 p.m. A medical assessment was performed and rescue personnel confirmed that medical attention was not needed. Rescue personnel escorted the hikers to a safe location where they were then airlifted by Air 1 to the nearby landing zone at 7:10 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
