BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KALIHI

On August 3, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:30 p.m. and responded to a building fire near 421 Alakawa Street in Kalihi with six units staffed with 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:35 p.m. and found smoke coming from behind a storage room door located on the ground level of a two-story parking garage.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and started an offensive fire attack. The fire was brought under control at 7:43 p.m. and extinguished at 7:46 p.m. While the fire was being extinguished, it was confirmed that there were no occupants in the room at the time of the fire.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
