RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIANAE

On August 4, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:03 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 86-440 Halona Road in Waianae with 8 units staffed with approximately 29 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:10 a.m. and reported flames visible in the center of the second floor of a newly constructed two-story, single-family home.

Fire fighters quickly secured a water supply and commenced an offensive fire attack. A primary and secondary search of the home confirmed no occupants were inside the structure. The fire was brought under control at 5:16 a.m. and fully extinguished at 5:59 a.m. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
