CAUSE OF BUILDING FIRE IN KALIHI WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on August 3, 2024, at 421 Alakawa Street in Kalihi, as accidental. The ignition source was electrical wiring in a storage room, on the first floor of the parking garage. Blankets being stored in close proximity to the wires served as the primary fuel for continued combustion. The damage estimate for the incident address is $10,000 to the property and $10,000 to the contents.
