ABANDONED BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KALIHI

On August 6, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:23 p.m. and responded to a building fire near 1707 Hoe Street in Kalihi with 6 units staffed with approximately 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:28 p.m. to find a one story abandoned building fully involved with fire.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and declared the fire under control at 8:35 p.m. The fire was fully extinguished at 9:31 p.m. A primary and secondary search confirmed there were no occupants inside of the building.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
