On August 6, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:30 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 2131 S. Beretania Street in McCully with 11 units staffed with approximately 43 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:34 p.m. to find smoke emanating from the fourth floor of a four story residential building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an offensive fire attack and declared the fire under control at 7:43 p.m. The fire was fully extinguished at 7:49 p.m. A primary and secondary search confirmed there were no occupants remaining in any of the units..

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
