HUNTER RESCUED FROM MAKUA KEAAU FOREST IN WAIANAE

On August 9, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:09 p.m. and responded to a lost hunter in the Puu Keaau Forest area in Waianae with 4 units staffed with 12 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:37 p.m. and established command.

It was reported that a male in his 30’s became lost and was unable to make his way to the trailhead. Air 1 was able to locate the hunter at 6:41 p.m. Rescue personnel were inserted at the hunter’s location where they conducted a medical assessment and confirmed there were no injuries. The hunter was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone at 6:57 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
