HIKER RESCUED FROM NEAR THE LULUMAHU FALLS TRAIL IN NUUANU

On August 13, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:02 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress near the Lulumahu Falls Trail in Nuuanu with five units staffed with 14 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:13 p.m and secured a landing zone in preparation for air operations.

It was reported that a 24-year-old male was in distress and unable to safely return to the trailhead on his own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 4:53 p.m., conducted a medical assessment and decided to fly the patient out via Air 1. The hiker was airlifted to the nearby landing zone at 5:04 p.m. where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services shortly after.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
