RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIANAE

On August 17, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:40 p.m. and responded to a small single-family house fire near 86-020 Hoaha Street in Waianae with 8 units staffed with approximately 26 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:46 p.m. and found light smoke showing from the side of the structure.

Fire fighters commenced an offensive fire attack and had water on the fire within one minute. The fire was declared under control at 4:56 p.m. and fully extinguished at 5:05 p.m. The home was reported to be unoccupied at the time of the fire, however four cats and three dogs were found deceased.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
