INJURED HIKER RESCUED FROM WAHIAWA HILLS TRAIL IN WAHIAWA

On August 18, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:49 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Wahiawa Hills Trail in Wahiawa with 5 units staffed with 12 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:00 p.m. and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a 71-year-old female was hiking with others, sustained a medical condition, and could not continue on her own. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location who then performed a medical assessment and administered basic life support treatment. She was then packaged and airlifted safely to the nearby landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 1:56 p.m.
