RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KAIMUKI

On August 27, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:38 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 3318 Sierra Drive in Kaimuki with 10 units staffed with approximately 39 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:43 a.m. and found a working fire at a two-story, single-family home.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and completed a primary and secondary search to confirm no occupants were inside the structure. The fire was brought under control at 5:22 a.m. and fully extinguished at 5:31 a.m.

One HFD firefighter suffered an injury and was transported to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
