AGRICULTURAL SHED FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN LAIE

On August 30, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:54 p.m. and responded to a reported building fire near 55-269 Poohaili Street in Laie with 8 units staffed with approximately 30 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:07 p.m. and found a wood-framed shed structure approximately 40-feet by 60-feet, on fire.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced an aggressive fire attack on two vehicles and agricultural products that were stored in the shed. A primary and secondary search for occupants was completed to confirm that no one was inside the structure. The fire was quickly brought under control at 4:12 p.m. and extinguished at 5:48 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
