HIKER RESCUED ON DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On September 1, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:59 a.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:08 p.m., and established command. Additional units ascended the trail on foot and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female in her 70s injured herself while hiking and was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 12:20 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 12:45 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
