HIKER RESCUED ON KOKO HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN HAWAII KAI

On September 1, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:48 a.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Koko Head Crater Trail in Kahala with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:56 a.m., established command and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving company secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male in his 30s suffered an injury while hiking and was unable to descend the trail on his own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 11:07 a.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:34 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
