HFD EXTINGUISHES A FIRE IN KAPOLEI

On September 5, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:23 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 91-259 Kuhela Street in Kapolei with 11 units staffed with approximately 40 personnel. The first unit arrived at 3:30 a.m. to find stacks of wood and roofing insulation, stored in a parking lot, fully involved in fire.

The first-arriving unit established command and began a defensive attack on the fire. Subsequent arriving units established a water supply and supplemented with manpower needs. The fire was brought under control at 4:33 a.m. and overhaul tactics were conducted to search for hidden fires and smoldering areas in an effort to prevent a rekindle. The fire was fully extinguished at 7:09 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
