HFD EXTINGUISHES AN OUTDOOR STORAGE FIRE IN KAPOLEI

On September 5, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:08 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 603 Komohana Street in Kapolei with 10 units staffed with approximately 35 personnel. The first unit arrived at 4:16 a.m. to find a large stacks of wood and other combustibles.

The first-arriving unit established command and began a defensive attack on the fire. Subsequent arriving units established a water supply and supplemented with manpower needs. The fire was brought under control at 4:20 a.m. The fire was fully extinguished at 7:12 a.m. Crews remained on scene to work with the company forklift operator to break down the large stacks of combustible material in order to overhaul and address any hot spots.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
