The 116th FFR Class commenced its training on January 22, 2024. The success of the Recruit Training Program is due to the many instructors from the Training and Research Bureau, other HFD divisions and fire suppression forces, and third-party evaluators who provided a broad spectrum of fire service education and training. FFRs underwent 1,296 hours of rigorous instruction over 34 weeks.

All 33 FFRs are now certified to the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Fire Fighter I and II, hazardous materials awareness, and operations levels; basic driving skills; and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

The following four awards were presented at the graduation:

  • Superior Performance in Drills to FFR Mason Isa
  • Excellence in Scholastic Achievement to FFR Aubrey Huey
  • Most Inspirational FFR to FFR Dan Nagaji
  • Outstanding FFR to FFR Darren Garvey
