COMMERCIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KAPOLEI

On October 2, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:26 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 91-174 Hanua Street in Kapolei with nine units staffed with approximately 34 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:33 p.m. to find light smoke emanating from the structure at the H-Power facility. After investigation, personnel found a smoldering fire in one of the trash pits.

Fire fighters utilized fire fighting equipment to apply water to the deep seated fire and had the fire under control at 4:20 a.m. Building representatives confirmed there were no occupants in the structure or needs for medical attention. Fire crews will stay on scene until the fire is fully extinguished.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as provide damage estimates.
