On October 10, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:10 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 89-535 Puakolu Street in Nanakuli with 12 units staffed with approximately 37 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:16 p.m. and found a working fire at a single-story home.
Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and completed a primary and secondary search to confirm no occupants were inside the structure. The fire was brought under control at 11:35 p.m. and fully extinguished at 12:32 a.m. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist four displaced residents.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
