HIGH-RISE BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN DOWNTOWN

On October 15, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:29 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 35 N. Kukui Street in Downtown with 10 units staffed with approximately 39 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:35 p.m. and found a working fire on the 23rd floor of a high-rise residential building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and completed a primary and secondary search to confirm no occupants were inside the structure. The fire was brought under control at 2:51 p.m. and fully extinguished at 3:01 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
