On October 25, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:04 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 86-541 Paheehee Road in Waianae with 12 units staffed with approximately 37 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:16 a.m. and found a working fire at a single-story, abandoned home.
Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and initiated a primary search for occupants. The fire was brought under control at 8:46 a.m. and fully extinguished at 10:21 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
