On November 7, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:23 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 1715 Malanai Street in McCully with 11 units staffed with approximately 43 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:32 a.m. and found a working fire at a single-story abandoned home.
Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and completed a primary and secondary search to confirm no occupants were inside the structure. The fire was brought under control at 2:54 a.m. and fully extinguished at 3:28 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
