HIGH-RISE RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIKIKI

On November 13, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:56 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 1778 Ala Moana Boulevard in Waikiki with 11 units staffed with approximately 43 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:01 p.m. to find a working fire on the 28th floor of a high-rise residential building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and completed a primary and secondary search to confirm no occupants were inside the structure. The fire was quickly extinguished at 11:14 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
