HIKER RESCUED ON DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On November 13, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:24 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:32 p.m., established command and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving company secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male in his 50s fell, suffered an injury and was unable to descend the trail on his own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 1:49 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to American Medical Response at 2:10 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
