On November 15, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:15 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Poamoho Trail in Wahiawa with 6 units staffed with 16 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:31 p.m., established command and prepared the area for rescue operations.
It was reported that a male in his 50s suffered a medical emergency and was unable to descend the trail on his own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 6:06 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 6:33 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
