RESTAURANT FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIKIKI

On November 17, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:27 p.m. and responded to a restaurant fire at 227 Lewers Street in Waikiki with ten units staffed with approximately 39 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:32 p.m. and found a working fire in the ground floor restaurant of a residential high rise building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and initiated a primary search to confirm no occupants were in the restaurant. The fire was quickly extinguished at 8:47 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
