On November 23, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:50 p.m. for a stranded hiker reported above the Likeke Trail in Kaneohe and responded with 4 units staffed with 12 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:03 p.m. at the Nuuanu Reservoir to prepare for air operations and establish command.
It was reported that a male in his 40s was hiking when he became stranded near the ridge and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Rescue personnel were inserted at the hiker’s location where they conducted a medical assessment to confirm there were no injuries. The hiker was then transported by Air 1 to the landing zone at 5:45 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
