HIKER RESCUED ON DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On November 24, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:54 p.m. and responded to a sick person on the Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:05 p.m. and established command. The next arriving unit ascended the trail on foot. A nearby landing zone was also secured in order to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female in her 70s became ill and was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 11:27 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:41 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
