On November 28, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:30 p.m. and responded to lost hikers on the Lulumahu Falls Trail in Nuuanu with 7 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:40 p.m and secured a landing zone to prepare for a search by air.
It was reported that a male and female were hiking for approximately four hours when they became lost and were unable to descend the trail on their own. Due to high winds in the valley, the search for the hikers was suspended at 7:30 p.m. and is planned to resume a first light.
