COMMERCIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN HAWAII KAI

On November 30, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:15 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 377 Keahole Street in Hawaii Kai with 10 units staffed with 39 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:21 a.m. to find light smoke emanating from the roof of a two-story strip mall in Hawaii Kai.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack and completed a primary and secondary search to confirm no occupants were inside the structure. While fire operations were under way in the main fire occupancy it was discovered that fire had extended into adjacent businesses. HFD units commenced simultaneous fire attacks in multiple businesses to contain the fire and keep it from
spreading. The fire was fully extinguished at 6:57 a.m. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
