SEARCH SUSPENDED FOR LOST HIKER ON THE WAHIAWA HILLS TRAIL IN WAHIAWA

On December 31, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:42 p.m. and responded to a lost hiker on the Wahiawa Hills Trail in Wahiawa with five units staffed with 15 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:57 p.m. and secured a landing zone to prepare for a search by air.

It was reported that a male was hiking for approximately four hours when he became lost and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Due to inclement weather, the search for the hikers was suspended at 8:02 p.m. and is planned to resume at first light.
