HIKER RESCUED ON DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On January 2, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:21 a.m. and responded to a sick hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:29 a.m., established command and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male hiker in his 60s became ill and was unable to descend the trail on his own. HFD personnel arrived to the hiker’s location where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support before safely airlifting the him to the landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:44 a.m.
