HIKER RESCUED ON WAʻAHILA RIDGE TRAIL IN HONOLULU

On January 2, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:38 a.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Waʻahila Ridge Trail in Honolulu with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:51 a.m., established command and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male hiker in his 60s suffered an injury and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location, where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support before safely airlifting the injured hiker to the landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 10:39 a.m.
