On January 20, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:35 a.m. and responded to a hiker on the Puʻu Manamana Trail in Kaʻaʻawa with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:58 a.m., established command and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a female hiker in her 20s was stuck in a precarious location and was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location where they conducted a medical assessment and confirmed the hiker was uninjured before safely airlifting her to the landing zone. The hiker declined medical attention.
