DISTRESSED BOATERS RESCUED OFFSHORE OF WAIKIKI

On February 1, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:49 p.m. and responded to a boater in distress offshore of Waikiki with 4 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:54 p.m. to investigate.

It was reported that a 30-foot sailboat ran aground and was disabled near the Rockpiles surf break, offshore of Waikiki. There were four people on board and none of them reported any injuries. The Honolulu Ocean Safety Department brought three individuals safely to shore while HFD personnel assisted with securing the boat and bringing the last person to shore at 2:45 p.m. on their rescue boat.
