LOST HIKER RESCUED FROM TRAIL ABOVE NUUANU RESERVOIR

On February 19, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:53 p.m. for lost hikers above the Nuuanu Reservoir near the Lani Huli Saddle and responded with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:09 p.m. and secured a landing zone for air operations.

It was reported that the hikers were making their way down the trail when it became too steep to continue to descend the trail on their own. HFD rescue personnel were inserted by Air 1 near the hiker’s location at 5:30 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment to confirm there were only minor injuries from sliding down rocky terrain. The first hiker was safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone at 5:52 p.m. and the second was transported to the landing zone at 6:05 p.m.
