On March 11, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:49 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Mānoa Falls Trail in Mānoa with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:03 p.m. and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a male hiker in his 30s suffered an injury and was unable to safely descend the trail on his own. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location at 1:31 p.m., conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely airlifted to the nearby landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 1:44 p.m.
