The 117th FFR Class commenced its training on July 15, 2024.  The success of the Recruit Training Program is due to the many instructors from the Training and Research Bureau, other HFD divisions and fire suppression forces, and third-party evaluators who provide a broad spectrum of fire service education and training.  FFRs underwent 1,328 hours of rigorous instruction over 36 weeks.

All 37 FFRs are now certified to the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Fire Fighter I and II and hazardous materials awareness and operations levels, basic driving skills, and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

The following four awards were presented at the graduation:

  • Superior Performance in Drills to FFR Christian Cross
  • Excellence in Scholastic Achievement to FFR Michael Jutt
  • Most Inspirational FFR to FFR Tanner Watanuki
  • Outstanding FFR to FFR Mason Slade
