On March 16, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:07 a.m. and responded to a lost hiker near the ridge above Mililani Mauka with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:21 a.m. and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a female in her 40s began hiking yesterday from Schofield, became lost, and was unable to descend the trail on her own. Air 1 was able to locate the hiker based on GPS coordinates received during the 911 call. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location where a medical assessment was conducted to ensure there were no injuries. The hiker was then safely airlifted to the landing zone at 10:02 a.m.
