FATAL TWO-ALARM BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN MANOA

On March 19, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:25 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 3574 Manoa Road in Honolulu with 10 units staffed with 38 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:34 a.m. to find a fully involved two story residential structure fire.

Fire fighters secured multiple water supplies, commenced an aggressive defensive fire attack with large diameter hoses and deck mounted master steams from the exterior of the residence to protect surrounding exposures and make conditions tenable for an interior search. One patient was found and transferred to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for medical care at 4:52 a.m. from a neighboring residence. While searching the structure, the HFD found an elderly couple, one of whom was transported by EMS for medical care and unfortunately another who expired from their injuries. The fire was brought under control at 5:02 a.m. and fully extinguished at 5:29 a.m.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
