TWO-ALARM BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN NĀNĀKULI

On March 23, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:46 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 87-1460 Akowai Road in Nānākuli with 12 units staffed with 37 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:53 a.m. to find heavy black smoke coming from a single-story residential structure.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an interior fire attack. Personnel investigated for fire extension due to heavy smoke in the attic. A primary search was conducted and found no occupants inside the structure. The fire was brought under control at 12:06 p.m. and fully extinguished at 12:46 p.m.

The fire is under investigation to determine the origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
