On March 27, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 08:28 a.m. and responded to a hiker on the Koko Head Crater Trail in Hawaii Kai with 6 units staffed by 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 08:37 a.m. and ascended the trail on foot to begin the ground search.
It was reported that a 25-year-old male sustained an injury while on the trail and was unable to descend on his own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 08:53 a.m., conducted a medical assessment, provided basic life support treatment, and prepared him for an airlift extraction. Air 1 safely airlifted the injured hiker to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services unit.
