The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call on March 27, at 4:14 a.m. and responded to a two-vehicle collision on the westbound Vineyard Boulevard off ramp with 4 companies staffed with 15 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene, at 4:18 a.m., and confirmed a two-vehicle crash with one person still trapped inside their vehicle.

HFD personnel established command, stabilized the vehicle, and used battery-powered hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the occupant. Care of the patient was then transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 4:37 a.m.
