HIKER RESCUED FROM THE KOKO CRATER TRAIL IN HAWAIꞌI KAI

On March 30, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:37 a.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Koko Crater Trail in Hawaiꞌi Kai with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:47 a.m. and proceeded up the trail on foot.

It was reported that a teenage male hiker fell and was unable to safely descend the trail on his own. HFD personnel on foot arrived at the hikers’ location at 8:03 a.m. and conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was the safely airlifted to the nearby landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 8:27 a.m.
